"Where Mountains"
"Touch Rivers"

The town was named “Confluence” because the Youghiogheny River, Casselman River and Laurel Hill Creek come together in the town. The town is surrounded by some of the highest mountains in Pennsylvania, including the highest, Mount Davis at 3,213 ft above sea level. The town is bordered to the south by the 2,840 acre Youghiogheny River Lake and to the north by the 19,052 acre Ohiopyle State Park.

All of these resources provide many opportunities for year-round activities. The Youghiogheny River provides some of the best whitewater boating in the Eastern U. S. as well as spectacular scenery. The Confluence area offers many excellent fishing opportunities. Streams stocked with rainbow, brown and brook trout include Laurel Hill Creek, Whites Creek, McClintock Run and the Youghiogheny River. Passing through Confluence is a 334 mile bike trail which is a continuous non-motorized corridor from near Pittsburgh to Washington, DC. The trail from Pittsburgh, PA to Cumberland, MD is the Great Allegheny Passage and from Cumberland, MD to Washington DC is the C&O Towpath. There are many miles of hiking trails in the area. Ohiopyle State Park has 79 miles of trails. There is also the Laurel Highlands Trail which is 70 miles long and extends from Ohiopyle to Johnstown. The area has four ski resorts and many areas for cross-country skiing and other winter activities.

Visit Confluence, PA and enjoy this wonderful vacation area, the friendly people and the many unique and interesting accommodations and restaurants.

The Youghiogheny River was designated as Pennsylvania's River of the Year by the state Department of Conservation and Natural Resources.
'River of the Year'

ReserveAmerica has named the Youghiogheny Outflow Campground in Confluence as one of  America's Top 100 Family Campgrounds of 2006.
The only campground in Pennsylvania to make the list.
